Reading Reflection

The speech from Steve Jobs of what have made him today totally impressed me. The three stories which he shared have inspired many people and have encouraged many to learn from his past. Such a successful entrepreneur like him has faced many difficulties through life, but he never gave up on what he believed in. The lessons I have learnt are that, we are given too much information in life on a certain path is better than another, we, if fail to follow, may not be able to succeed. The path through life is, however, not one way straight. There are some other ways for us to achieve instead. Secondly, we should always cherish what we have and what we love as life is too short to regret. Meanwhile, we should not be over proud, if we do, we would rather stay in the comfort zone than take any new challenges. We, then, would be held back from any further improvements. In other words, we should keep looking for our own faith and don't settle, always being willing and open-minded to learn, and don't be afraid of any difficulties happened in life because someday we would thank for that.

My Favorite Singer: Colbie Caillat

My favorite singer, Colbie Caillat, is a young American singer plus a songwriter. She was found through her popular MySpace profile which led her to become a well-known unsigned singer. After she turned into a star. Her first album was debuted and titled after her own nickname “Coco” in 2007. The singles in the album hit the top of the billboard soon after it was released. The catchy rhythms of the songs make her become one of the best sellers in the United States. She is said to have a gift of a voice with simple, soft and smooth tone. Aside from that, she is also a guitarist and plays a lot in her music. I have noticed her because her voice kept being played on the radio, and it immediately attracted me. I like to hum the tune when I listen to her songs. It can cheer me up and makes me feel relaxed. Moreover, I can improve my English abilities through the lyrics of her songs, which is really important to what I am now. Colbie Caillat has recently come out a new album. I look forward to seeing it, hope that she keeps doing good job done and has more pop songs coming out in the future.

Meaning of Raising Dogs

Long time ago, dogs were domesticated by people to protect their own territory. They were supposed to take care of the houses, farms and tamed animals of their owners. However, this idea has been changed already. Nowadays, people do not keep dogs working anymore; on the contrary, people have them as company. We can see many people who carry their pets like their own babies on the streets or shopping malls. Some people even dress them as dolls. It seems to become a trend in the society. However, there are evidences which show that some people raise a dog because of the current trend. They have never considered that dogs are living creatures which need foods, to be taken care of, even get sick sometimes besides they are cute and funny. When those owners found that the dogs are troublesome, they might just being abandoned on the streets. It becomes a serious problem towards our society. The government should address this issue seriously. I have a dog as well. I feel sad when I see those stray dogs that are suffering illness, hungriness or being bullied. Dogs are innocent. I hope that people who would like to raise a dog would take a careful consideration before they really do.

My Best Friend

Maggie, one of my best friends, who we have been known each other for many years. We were colleagues in the same trading company few years ago. The reasons I like her are that, at work, she is a hard-working employee who always goes to work on time and finishes it professionally, and, she is willing to support others and never complain; meanwhile, she is such a credible assistant who does her job better than great. As a friend, on the other hand, she is an easy-going person and has a sweet temper. She, seldom being angry or impatient and with a good sense of humor, makes people feel comfortable to be around. Besides that, she is a good listener and likes to share with her friends not only in happiness but also in frustrations, and gives them constructive advices then. It is such an honor to be a friend of hers. I know that she is the one whom I can always confide in and being rely on.

A Person Who Has Made a Difference: Wang Yuan-Ching

Wang Yuan-Ching was considered as one of the most influential entrepreneur who had founded a large business empire in Taiwan. He was from an agricultural family and was not well educated. He knew the importance of hard work and was a person who actually achieved the success in life. He, through his own efforts, had the determination to succeed and never abandon his ideas so his business empire has grown to what it is today. According to a survey, he became the 178th richest person in the world in 2008 and was named as the King of Business Operation in Taiwan. At the same time, he founded schools and sponsored free studies to poor students. He maintained a positive attitude towards life. Besides, in his daily life, he kept jogging and never stopped. He was surprisingly humble and thrifty for a man of his status. Unfortunately, he passed away in his sleep at age 91 on October 15, 2008 in United States. The lesson people can learn from him is that educational background does not count for everything as long as we put in the efforts. Through his hard work and strong character, he became one of the richest men in the world and started an image that success can be achieved through hard work. He is definitely a role model for people who wants to achieve and to succeed.
