Obviously, text messaging has become a new communication medium worldwide in the twentieth century. It is a great way to express feelings if you are too embarrassed to talk with others face to face, and also a good way to send a quick note if you are afraid to disturb others where phone calls are inappropriate. Meeting People in a New Place

Meeting people in a new place is not easy for everyone because it requests interpersonal skill. Some people find that meeting people might be challenging and even embarrassing. Here are five methods suggested for those whom have trouble to meet people in a new place. Firstly, you can meet people through your friends or people whom you have already known. Ideally, it is easier to meet people through the persons you know because the ice is already broken. It makes you to fit in the social circle faster because you have friends in common. Second, you can meet people in the same social activity. For example, if you like jogging, you can join others who also enjoy the activity. It enables you to get along with them since you have the same taste. Third, you can make friends through your kindness. If you are good at something and are willing to offer a hand, then people will come to you and ask for advice. Moreover, making friends online is also a method to meet people these days. You can find the online groups which you are interested in and start to chat with them. Finally, if you are outgoing, you can meet people in public places. You can, for instance, approach people when you are in the coffee shops, the museums, or the grocery stores and then talk to them as long as you are not afraid to be turned down. Indeed, meeting people in a new place is not simple. However, through some methods, you can still make friends; although, you are totally fresh in the place.

Coffee

I love drinking coffee and it is a must for me. When I take a sip of coffee in the morning, it not only warms me up but also makes me ready to face the day. I also like drinking coffee whenever I am depressed; I feel calmer and happier once I have a cup of it. However, recent research addresses that coffee has bad effects on health. Some people find they are not easy to fall asleep after drinking it; it causes insomnia in some. A nervous condition may occur when one has had too much caffeine. It can also cause anxiety and irritability to people who are with excessive coffee consumption. Moreover, it might leave stains on teeth which are not good for the appearance. In short, drinking too much coffee is not good for health. I should limit myself to less coffee and taste it as enjoyment rather than being a coffeeholic.

My New Year Resoluation

With a New Year approaching, my New Year resolution of 2010 is mainly aiming to balance my life. In 2009, I am fully occupied after enrolling a degree course at LHU. Somehow, I found that I am not very good at handle stress which come from my job and being a student at the same time. Therefore, in the beginning of 2010, I would like to travel Tokyo for 5 days to get relaxed first. Within these days, I expect to go Tokyo Disney Resort for fun and visit some famous temples to learn about Japanese religious tradition. Meanwhile, I will taste the typical Japanese foods and to go shopping in different malls since Tokyo is one of the fashionable cities. However, Tokyo is a city where has a high standard of living; I must save up for spending money before I go. After I am back from the wonderful trip, I will be full of energy. Then I will start to work on improving my English skills. I will be reading a collection of Paulo Coelho’s books. He is my favorite author whose writing can inspire me. I hope that his words can enhance not only my writing skill but also fill my spiritual need. In brief, these are the general things I plan to do in 2010.

The book I have read

I have read a fascinating book entitled “Like the Flowing River” lately. It was written by my favorite author, Paulo Coelho. This book comprises of odd chapters describing thoughts and reflections of his. I admire the way he experienced each scene from his path, and the way he defined life philosophy. I am always inspired by him whenever I read the book. Here is an example: “The Pianist in the Shopping Mall”, my favorite chapter, was about a day that Paulo meeting a friend in a shopping mall. He found that there was a pianist who was performing on the stage while no one there was paying attention to. However, the pianist kept playing the magical music with all his love, his soul and his enthusiasm, seemed enjoying sharing with others. Paulo got an important lesson from this moment: each of us has our own legend to fulfill. It does not matter if others support us, judge us or ignore us. We do it because it is our destiny and the fount of joy. His words remind me that I should cherish what I am doing now even on one appreciates that, I should keep doing it with great passion and do not quit halfway as if it is a right thing to do. Overall, this book is highly recommended since it allows readers to think over the meanings of their own path and gives ideas to people who are struggling for life.

A Song

My friend sent me a song with its lyric today. He told me that the song pretty much described his current feeling. So I turned the song on and listened. What a emo song..I said. Then he told me that he had a crash on a girl recently but she liked him just as a friend. At the night, I lay on my bed and kept the song play repeatedly. It seemed the song and his words had dragged me into the memory. I couldn't stop recalling. A long time ago, we used to share everything and feelings. We always laughed out loud when we chatted. It was like there was no one could impress us but each other. I thought and I hope it would last forever. I believed there was nothing could take us apart. However, it just totally changed one day. Before we ended the conversation, he asked "do you know how it feels if you like someone but he/she just like you as a friend?" He carried on and said "it's like always midnight". Then I murmured “yes..it is like always midnight.."

A Day Off

There was an election held on 5th of December, so we didn’t need go to school. It was an unexpected day off for us because it had just been announced few days ago. I was so excited since we could finally have a rest on Saturday. Then I immediately planned to meet my junior-high friend whom I was too busy to find time for. Luckily, we could meet on that day eventually. On that day, she came to pick me up with her little motorcycle in the morning. Firstly, we went to a temple to pray for all the best. Then, we headed to the Vie Show Cinemas in Taipei to see a romantic comedy movie, 500 Days of Summer. It was an interesting movie but it definitely meant more than what we understood. After seeing the movie, we went to the night market for shopping and having some traditional food there. I had a great day with her. I hope that we can see each other soon.
