Global Warming

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and it’s becoming a serious issue worldwide now.
In Taiwan, we are also being affected by global warming these days. According to a report released by a professor, Fan Kuang-Lung, of National Taiwan University Institute of Oceanography, sea levels around the world are gradually on the rise due to global warming. He discovered that Taiwan’s sea level was rising at an annual average of 0.32 cm, higher than China’s 0.26 cm and the global average of 0.1 to 0.2 cm. because of that, the tidal land in central and southern Taiwan suffers from constant flooding. If the sea level keeps rising at such a fast speed, it is feared the land will be swallowed up by the end of the century. Another scholar also warned in the fair of the influence of over-development and pollution causing the marine species around Taiwan to vanish at a fast speed.

In order to reduce carbon emissions, we should change our lifestyle to protect our mother earth.
1. Cut down electricity consumption- such as turn off the lights if not necessary or turn on your fans instead of air con. Don’t keep your computer on if you are away.
2. Use your car less - Public transportation is better than drive your own car. Or drive more slowly and consider car sharing with someone else who is going to the same direction as you.
